Joy Chen is an internationally acclaimed writer and media personality. A Chinese-American former Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles, Chen is author of the China best-seller Do Not Marry Before Age 30, which debunks conventional wisdom that single women are “leftover” by their late 20s.

Chen is now partnering with China’s Wanda Media Group to make this book into a romantic comedy movie scheduled for release in 2015. Additionally, she has several other projects in development with top media companies for movies, TV shows, and viral videos to delight and entertain modern Chinese audiences. Her role on these projects is both behind the camera as a writer, and in front of the camera as a media personality.

Chen serves as a brand ambassador for Procter & Gamble and other leading companies whose products aid and inspire Chinese women.

For her work in helping women realize their own potential, she was honored by the Chinese government as a 2012 Woman of the Year by the All-China Women’s Federation, the government’s department for women.

Joy has been profiled as a modern female role model across news, business, and fashion media including Vogue China, ELLE China, CCTV, Marie Claire China, Esquire China, Good Housekeeping China, Cosmopolitan China, People’s Daily Online, BTV, and CNN International.

Chen earned MBA and M.A. in Urban Planning degrees from UCLA, and a B.A. from Duke University.
