PSB Gives Foreign NGO Law Lectures, Including on the Education Sector

At the invitation of the region’s Foreign Affairs Office, the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Public Security Bureau (PSB) Foreign NGO Management Office recently gave a lecture on the Foreign NGO Law, including relevant procedures for representative office registration and temporary activity filing. More than 80 representatives from foreign affairs departments at the district, city and county levels, as well as other relevant government personnel, participated in the training.The PSB also discussed their foreign NGO management work in Ningxia and answered questions from attendees.

Participants said they gained a better understanding of Foreign NGO management and a deeper understanding of the Foreign NGO Law through the training. They pledged to strictly follow the Foreign NGO Law when working with foreign NGOs in the future.

July 29, 2019:

The Communication University of China (CUC) held a symposium on the management of foreign NGOs in the field of education. More than 110 people participated in the meeting. The participants were from administrative education departments in different provinces, provincial-level municipalities, and autonomous regions, as well as from universities directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education (MOE). The deputy director of the MOE’s Department of International Cooperation and Exchange spoke at the meeting. The vice president and secretary-general of the China Education Association for International Exchange and CUC’s vice president also delivered speeches.

At the symposium organizer’s invitation, PSB police discussed practical issues that universities might encounter while filing for temporary activities as foreign NGOs’ Chinese Partner Units (CPUs). The police also answered questions from attendees.

This was the first national NGO symposium in the field of education held since the Foreign NGO Law went into effect on January 1, 2017.

July 29, 2019:

The Yunnan PSB Foreign NGO Management Office issued a registration certificate to the Yunnan representative office of the Norwegian Mission Alliance. The NGO’s China director and chief representative both attended the ceremony.

A PSB representative congratulated the NGO on the establishment of its Yunnan representative office and stated that in the future, the PSB would strengthen communication with foreign NGOs and their Professional Supervisory Units (PSUs). The police officer also pledged to listen to opinions, integrate resources, and strive to provide better and more efficient services for foreign NGOs to carry out activities in Yunnan according to law. She also expressed her hope that Norwegian Mission Alliance’s Yunnan representative office would strictly abide by various laws and regulations and cooperate with the PSB and its PSU while carrying out its activities, making positive contributions to the development of Yunnan's economic, social, and public welfare sectors.
