Updated Monthly Registration and Filing Figures Available through September

The China NGO Project recently published the latest figures for Foreign NGO representative office registrations and temporary activity filings, including information through the end of September 2019.

The pace of new registrations continues to hover around five per month, while the number of new temporary activities initiated in September showed a slight dip over July and August. We will keep an eye on this latter figure in the coming months; the dip could be a part of normal fluctuations in the pace of filings, or it could reflect heightened bureaucratic caution in light of the October 1 anniversary of the P.R.C.’s founding and the ongoing protests in Hong Kong.

We have also updated our heat map and filterable table showing which entities are (and aren’t) serving as Professional Supervisory Units for foreign NGOs.
