Xinyan Yu is a Chinese journalist and filmmaker based in New York. She has had more than seven years of experience working in top-tier newsrooms around the world, including South China Morning Post, the BBC, and the Associated Press.
Yu has managed international crews in a wide array of major breaking news events, including Typhoon Kopu in the Philippines, the Rohingya refugee crisis, and the death of the Thai King. She is the producer of two BBC documentaries, “China’s Science Revolution” and “China’s New Silk Road.”
Xinyan grew up in Wuhan, an industrial city along the Yangtze River in Central China, and is an alumnus of Beijing Foreign Studies University and the University of Hong Kong.
