Poverty Alleviation Office Issues Foreign NGO Guidelines; Guangdong Chats with Hong Kong NGOs

The State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development has issued guidelines for NGOs requesting the Office to serve as its Professional Supervisory Unit or as its Chinese Partner Unit for representative offices and temporary activities, respectively.

Today, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau (PSB) Foreign NGO Management Office granted registration certificates to 21 foreign NGOs. These included 13 Japanese groups (Kumamoto Trade Association, Fukushima Industrial Revitalization Center, Kagoshima Specialty Products Association, Ibaraki International Exchange Association, Gifu Industry and Economy Revitalization Center, Fukuoka Small and Medium Enterprise Revitalization Center, Okinawa Industrial Revitalization Commune, Nagasaki Trade Association, Northern Kyushu Trade Association, Osaka Industrial Revitalization Organization, Fukui Industrial Assistance Center, Tokushima Industrial Revitalization Organization, and Japan-China Economic Association); three groups from South Korea (North Jeolla Province Economic and Trade Relations Revitalization Institute, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Economic and Trade Relations Revitalization Institute, and National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives); and one each from the United Kingdom (China-Britain Business Council), Germany (Hanns-Seidel-Stiftung), Switzerland (Better Cotton Initiative), Malaysia (Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council), and Hong Kong (Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Association).

Today, the Guangdong PSB Foreign NGO Management Office invited a number of Hong Kong NGOs to discuss how these groups can continue to work successfully in Guangdong under the Foreign NGO Law.

September 19, 2017:

Today, the Beijing PSB Foreign NGO Management Office met with the Chief Representative of the Fédération Française de Football to present the group’s registration certificate and discuss its just-completed registration process.

Correction: The National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives was previously referred to as the Central Assembly of the Aquaculture Collaboration Association.
