China Uses Drones to Monitor Pollution Problems from Above

China’s environmental regulators want to increase the use of drones watching pollution levels, supplementing the existing monitoring system.
In the central city of Wuhan, drones were sent to urban areas to inspect emissions from chimneys that are usually linked to the local heating system. In the northeast, environmental officials in Heilongjiang province used drones to monitor straw burning in rural areas, a source of air pollution.
