Wendy Zhou is a doctoral researcher in Communication Studies at Georgia State University (GSU) and a media freelancer. She mainly studies political discourse, transnational journalism, diaspora media, and communication. Before joining GSU, she served as the Chinese Editor of the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) and as a research assistant at the Journalism and Media Studies Center at the University of Hong Kong, where she earned a Master’s degree in journalism.

Her articles have appeared in The Atlantic, Al Jazeera, Quartz, The Financial Times (Chinese version), and Initium Media, among other outlets.
