Three Years after Their Son Died in the Tianjin Explosion | Tencent “One Day, One Life”
Fang Zhiying and her husband Pang Fangguo lost their only son, Pang Ti, a firefighter who perished in the 2015 Tianjin Explosion. The couple was devastated, but ultimately decided to try to have another child with the help of IVF treatments, even though Fang, 47, has been dealing with multiple health issues, including complications from a stroke she suffered in 2007. After three failed attempts, Fang succeeded in becoming pregnant. She gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, in December 2017. Photographer Jia Dai Teng Fei followed the couple through the process, intimately documenting their journey to build a new family while remembering their lost son.
